Last week I finished my intro woodworking class at 3rd Ward in Brooklyn, and here is the finished product.  On the whole, it turned out well, although it’s obviously the work of an amateur.  In the interest of keeping it real, I’ve appended pictures of both my best and worst joints.  As you can see, they ranged from what my instructor called “some real craftsman shit” to, well, just shit.

Next up is a class on joints, so hopefully I’ll get better!

The topic of today’s woodworking class was chiseling. Turns out that shit is HARD—from a technical standpoint and from an arm strength (lack thereof) standpoint.

It’s Woodworking Class night again!  Excited to get a little down and dirty.  Thought I’d throw this video up, which introduces my lovely teacher Tim and the class.  Super special bonus:  the sweet outro music.

In just five short weeks I will be able to…be less awful with my DIY projects.

First woodworking class was a success! Used a miter saw and a table saw without negative consequences or, as my teacher says, without any digit loss. All this will eventually turn into a table and a mallet. Fun with power tools!
