Obama’s support of Maine’s gay marriage referendum prompted me to check out the anti-equality website, and I thought I would share some of their FAQs to illustrate how antiquated and bigoted their reasoning is:
Q: Is it necessary to have a man and a woman raise a child? A: A man can’t teach his daughter how to be a woman, and a woman can’t teach her son how to become a man.
Q: Isn’t marriage just about encouraging loving and committed relationships? A: It is about channeling the sexual passions of men and women—with its potential of creating children into a stable, family unit that provides the best opportunity for them to thrive.
Q: Some people say that children don’t really need a mom and a dad – as long as they have two loving parents. Is that true? A: Children raised by their own married mothers and fathers are more likely to have hope, confidence, and self-control than children who grow up in other situations.
